We thank God for giving us the privilege to have Pastor Jacob Vital serve as our senior pastor of First Shiloh Baptist Church as of April 2008. Here, he is able to answer his call to serve the community in bridging the generation gap and appeal to the exodus of our youths and professionals in the church. He is able to use his 25 years in Bible teaching, preaching, and 30 years of experience in business administration to help bring structure, stability, permanence and longevity in Church.

It was not until his senior year as a Mechanical Engineering student at New Jersey Institute of Technology that he realized God did not call him to be an engineer, but a Bible teacher and a church administrator. He immediately transferred to Nyack College to complete his bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management, proceeded to complete his Master of Divinity degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and then continued at Westminster Theological Seminary where he is presently attending as a Ph.D. student in Biblical Studies, specialized in Old Testament.

After many years of praying, thinking and consulting, today we are joining René and his family in making this great commitment to God to become our new Minister of Music at Shiloh. Maestro René Jeanty grew up in Haiti where he developed a love and passion for music. Maestro René chose to abandon his background in Civil and Electrical Engineering to follow his call to serve the community in the field of music.

Upon completing coursework at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2001, Maestro René graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Church Music and Worship. He studied piano under the renowned baroque specialist, Dr. Maurice Hinson, and completed a major in piano with a minor in voice. While at Southern Seminary, he also studied organ with Dr. Sandra Chuckalo Turner and completed a minor in organ, which is his favorite instrument to date. Since 2006, Mr. Jeanty has filled the dual role of pianist and organist at Melbourne Heights Baptist Church. In June 22, 2014, Maestro Rene officially became Shiloh’s Minister of Music.
